KANSAS CITY, Mo. (NABC/SMU) – SMU's
Everett Ray was named to the 2019-20 NABC Honors Court, which recognizes men's college basketball players who excel in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be academically a junior or senior and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year.
Ray is a finance major in the Cox School of Business and represents Men's Basketball on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He was also on the 2017-18 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. After missing the 2018-19 season with a foot injury, he returned to play in 19 games this past season, including the home win over No. 20 Houston.
This is the fourth straight season SMU has had a student-athlete named to the NABC Honors Court.
Semi Ojeleye and
Jonathan Wilfong earned the distinction in 2016-17, and
James Pyle earned the award in consecutive years following the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.
