SMU women's tennis fell, 5-2, on the road to Arkansas on Sunday afternoon.

"We want to thank Arkansas for agreeing to play us on such short notice," said head coach
Jeff Nevolo. "Their hospitality was first class. We struggled in spots today but showed fight. Our best tennis is in front of us."

The Mustangs lost the doubles point to the Razorbacks, 2-1, winning on court 1.
Jackie Nylander and
Chandler Carter took down the Razorbacks top doubles tandem of Indianna Sprink and Morgan Cross, 6-3.

Hadley Doyle fell 6-3 on court two while

Claudia Bartolome fell 6-3 on court 3.

SMU won its two points of the match on lines one and three in singles. Nylander took an early lead against Spink before falling in set two. In the third-set super tiebreaker, the sophomore won 10-6.
Hadley Doyle won her team-high fourth match of the season with a 7-6, 6-1 win on line three.

The Razorbacks won the other four singles matches in straight sets. Bartolome fell, 6-3, 6-2 on line two and Carter lost a pair of 6-4 sets on court 4. Petchey lost, 6-2, 6-4 on line five while
Katherine Jakeway dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match on the subsequent line.

The Mustangs continue their road swing with a trip to Central Texas to take on Texas A&M (Jan. 30) and Baylor (Jan. 31). SMU's next home game is Feb. 7 against LSU.
