Â
SMU had top-three finishes at the event from
Ilektra Lebl (400 IM),

Gabi Grobler (200 IM) and
Nicole Stambo (1 meter, 3 meter).
Â
Conference Favorite
Gabi Grobler was named the season's first American Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week after her performance at the season-opening SMU Classic.
Grobler posted a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. Her 1:59.12 was good for her first NCAA B Cut of the season and is a career best. The time is sixth on SMU's all-time top performer list. She competed in three other A Finals at the event, placing fourth in the 100 back, fifth in the 200 back and sixth in the 100 breast. All times lead the conference after the season-opening event except for the 100 breast, which ranks second in the league.

Making The Cut
Valentina Becerra and
Gabi Grobler posted their first NCAA B Cuts of the season at the SMU Classic. Becerra's 53.36 in the 100-yard butterfly gives her the first NCAA standard of her career and makes her the ninth fastest performer all time in the program. Grobler's 1:59.12 in the 200 IM came in under the mark and makes her the sixth fastest performer in program history.
Â
On the diving side,
Nicole Stambo placed third on 3 meter at the Classic with an NCAA Zone qualifying 302.75.
Â
League Leaders
The Mustangs lead The American in 10 of 13 individual events this season and three of five relays. They also have 23 top-three individual times.

Holt Hickman Outdoor Pool Is Coming To The Hilltop
With a $2.5M gift from the Hickman family, SMU will soon break ground for a new eight-lane, 50-meter by 25-yard outdoor pool, with 1- and 3-meter diving boards. The $11M project will also include a 20-foot by 40-foot instructional pool that will be used for lessons and rehab/therapy. The addition of the outdoor pool will complete the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center, making SMU the only University in the country with both indoor and outdoor Olympic pools in one facility, further cementing SMU's swimming and diving facility as one of the finest in college athletics.
