OPENING THE RIGHT WAY: SMU opened the season with a 97-67 win over Sam Houston State at Moody Coliseum. Kendric Davis had a career-high 33 points to set the SMU record in an opener that was previously 30 points by Ira Terrell at Saint Louis on 11-29-1975. It was also the most points in an opener for SMU since a 110-69 win against Hardin-Simmons to open 1999-2000 and the largest victory since an 85-50 win against Sam Houston State to start the 2015-16 campaign.

MOODY MAGIC: The Mustangs are 21-4 in the past 25 games at Moody Coliseum after going 15-2 at home last season. That was the seventh time in program history that SMU has successfully defended home court at least 15 times. Five of those are in the past seven seasons. Since Moody Coliseum re-opened for the 2014 American Athletic Conference schedule, SMU has successfully defended home court 106 times in 127 contests.
