DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women's tennis won both ends of a Saturday doubleheader as the Mustangs took down UTSA, 5-2, and Northwestern State, 7-0 at the SMU Tennis Complex.

Jeff Nevolo. "We battled through some emotional fatigue to get a couple wins. We've played seven matches in the last 11 days and that showed at times today. Our staff is proud of the way we competed in the second match after a long match against UTSA."

The Mustangs moved to 13-7 on the season with the doubleheader sweep including 13-1 on their home court.

SMU started the day with a 11 a.m. match with UTSA. In doubles,
Jackie Nylander and
Hadley Doyle dominated, 6-1, on line one.
Winslow Huth and
Nicole Petchey also won their match, 6-1, on court three.

The Mustangs won four of six singles courts against the Roadrunners. Doyle wrapped up a speedy, 6-0, 6-3 win on court two followed by
Claudia Bartolome winning, 6-1, 6-3 on court three. Petchey clinched the victory thanks to a 6-2, 7-5 win on line five.

UTSA's two points came from wins on court one and three. Nylander won her first two sets but would fall in three, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5. Huth finished on the wrong end of a three-setter as well, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
Freshman
Avery Hilbig dropped set one, 6-4, but came out strong in set two, 6-2. Hilbig maintained the momentum with a 6-4 set three win, ending the match.

In match two against Northwestern State, Doyle and Nylander improved to 8-2 as a pairing with another line one win. Hilbig and Bartolome won 6-4 on court two.

In singles, the Mustangs dominated winning 12 of 13 sets to finish the sweep. Petchey made quick work of her opponent on line four, 6-1, 6-0. Nylander took down court one, 6-2, 6-0 and Bartolome clinched the match with her 6-2, 6-1 victory on court three.
Doyle won her 13
th match of the season thanks to a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Katherine Jakeway made her return to the singles lineup with a two-set victory, 6-4, 6-2.
Kiana Graham gutted out a 6-4 win in set one before dropping set two 1-6. In the supertiebreaker, Graham capped the match with a 10-7 score victory.

Next up, the Mustangs hit the road for three away matches starting with UTA on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
