ORLANDO, Fla. (SMU) – SMU women's tennis dropped a road match, 4-1, to No. 19 UCF on Sunday at the USTA National Campus.

Jeff Nevolo. "Had our chances in doubles and on a number of singles courts. We've got a driven group ready for the next stretch of matches.
Hadley Doyle posted a win over a ranked opponent in singles during the match, topping No. 93 Evgeniya Levashova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 for her third ranked win of the season.
UCF narrowly prevailed in doubles with close matches on all three courts. 30
th-ranked Doyle/Nylander took on No. 32 Mattel/Stolmar on court one. With the match all square at four, the Knights won the next two games to win the court. On court two,
Claudia Bartolome and
Chandler Carter lost 6-4 to clinch the point for UCF.
Nicole Petchey and
Winslow Huth were leading 5-4 when doubles play ended.
In singles, SMU split the six first sets with UCF, getting first set wins from Nylander, Doyle and Petchey.
UCF extended its lead to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Carter on court four. Doyle's victory on two pulled the Mustangs to within one. It was her team-high 15
th win on the season and her 10
th straight victory.
Huth faced off against Mattel and dropped the match, 6-2, 6-4. The Knights clinched the 4-1 win after defeating
Claudia Bartolome, 6-4, 6-2 on line five.
Nylander was matched with No. 33 Stolmer on line one. Nylander won set one 6-1 and dropped set two, 3-6. She was leading 3-2 when the match ended. Petchey took her first set, 6-3 and was locked in a tight second set, 3-4, at the time of clinch.
The loss moved the Mustangs to 5-1 in conference and 15-8 overall. The Knights improve to 11-3 on the season and earned a win in their first game against the American Athletic Conference.
Next up, SMU heads to Fort Worth on Friday to take on No. 41 TCU.
