ABOUT SMU

AT HOUSTON BAPTIST
• SMU was scheduled to start the season Aug. 19 at Houston Baptist, but the match was canceled due to poor field conditions in Houston.

• SMU's next match is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 5, at Denver at 3 p.m. CT.
• This will be the first contest between the two programs.
SCOUTING BAYLOR
• Baylor enters the contest with a 1-2 record, despite outscoring opponents 5-3, with goals from five different players. The Bears have put 26 shots on goal, compared to just 16 by their opponents.
• The Bears started the season on the road, losing 1-0 at Minnesota. Four of the five goals came in a shutout win at North Dakota State.
• In its first home match, Baylor was beaten 2-1 by Nebraska.
SERIES HISTORY
• SMU is 9-4-0 all-time against Baylor, including a 3-1-0 record in Waco.
• Baylor won each of the last three matches in the series, snapping a streak of six straight wins by the Mustangs.
• Baylor won, 4-1, on Sept. 17, 2017, in the last meeting. The previous match was played on Sept. 1, 2013.
2021 AAC ALL-PRESEASON TEAM
Wayny Balata was named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.
The junior midfielder has three career goals, scoring two in 18 games as a freshman and one in two games last season. The Montreal native also tallied two assists during her only full campaign on the Hilltop.
