IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Gabi Grobler was named the American Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for a league-leading third time this season, conference officials announced Tuesday.

Grobler, who has won the award alongside Mustangs Ilektra Lebl (2x), Nicole Stambo (2x) and Johanna Holloway, earned back-to-back honors Oct. 12 and Nov. 2 to open the season. The Mustangs have swept AAC weekly awards three of four possible times in 2021-22, picking up eight of nine possible honors this season.

In the Mustangs' meet at No. 22 Texas A&M on Jan. 28, Grobler earned runner-up honors in the 200-yard individual medley and finished third in the 100-yard backstroke. She also helped SMU to a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, swimming the breaststroke leg.

Grobler has posted NCAA B standards in the 200- and 400-yard IMs, as well as the 200 breast in 2021-22, and ranks on five of SMU's all-time top 10 performer lists.

The Mustangs are back in action Friday when they host No. 2 Texas at 4 p.m. at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium. Grobler and the senior class will be honored prior to the event, which will stream live on PonyUp TV.

SMU is also hosting the groundbreaking for the Holt Hickman Outdoor Pool Friday at 1:30 p.m.
