SMU hosts Tulsa on Wednesday in the second meeting of the season for these programs. The Mustangs opened American Athletic Conference play with a 74-69 win in Tulsa on Dec. 29. SMU is 19-6 overall and 10-3 in the AAC after a 73-57 win over Memphis on Sunday. SMU is 16-3 in the last 19 games, and receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll.

SMU is 13-0 at Moody Coliseum this season and has won 15 straight at home overall. That is tied for the eighth-longest active home win streak in NCAA D-I. It is also tied for the fourth longest in program history. The Mustangs are 34-4 at home since the start of the 2019-20 season.

SMU used a 27-3 run in the second half to top Memphis 73-57 on Sunday. It completed a season sweep of the Tigers after the Mustangs had won 70-62 in Memphis on Jan. 20. Kendric Davis had a game-high 27 points in Sunday's victory, hitting 6-of-11 from three and grabbing four steals. Marcus Weathers had 20 points and seven rebounds while Michael Weathers grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds to go with six points, five assists and four blocked shots. 

Kendric Davis was named the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on February 21. It was his ninth honor of the season and 20th of his career. That is the most AAC Weekly Honors in a season for a Mustang, surpassing eight by Nic Moore in 2014-15, Semi Ojeleye in 2016-17 and Davis in 2020-21. He tied Nic Moore (2013-16) for the most AAC career weekly honors.

SMU is leading The American in threes made (8.8, 57th NCAA) and ranks second in the league for 3-point percentage (37.0%, 41st NCAA). Three Mustangs are averaging at least 1.6 threes per game with Kendric Davis making 2.5 (7th AAC), Emmanuel Bandoumel at 2.2 (9th AAC) and Zach Nutall at 1.6. The Mustangs lead the AAC in defensive rebounds (28.5, 13th NCAA), rank third in scoring at 74.9 points, third in FG% (45.1%), fifth in FG% defense (39.8%, 27th NCAA) and fourth in FT% (74.1%). 

Kendric Davis is leading the AAC in scoring (19.4, 33rd NCAA) and free-throw percentage (86.8%, 42nd NCAA). He is in the top five in the league in field-goal percentage (44.8%, 3rd AAC) and assists (4.6, 3rd AAC, 62nd NCAA). Davis is also ranked in the league for assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7, 7th AAC), 3FGs made (2.5, 7th AAC) and steals (1.5, 11th AAC). Marcus Weathers leads SMU in rebounding (7.1, 2nd AAC) and double-doubles (5, T-1st AAC). Michael Weathers is ranked in the AAC in blocked shots (1.3, 7th AAC), steals (1.6, 8th AAC) and rebounds (5.6, 14th AAC). Emmanuel Bandoumel is averagaing 10.5 points and Michael Weathers is averaging 10.0  to give the Mustangs four players averaging double figures in scoring.

Kendric Davis was selected to the Naismith Trophy Midseason Team (1 of 30). He was also selected unanimous preseason All-American Athletic Conference First Team, named to the Naismith Trophy Watch List, the Wooden Award Preseason 50 Watch List, the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Watch List and the Lute Olson Player of the Year Award Watch List. This season, he has been national player of the week (Jan. 3) and earned a total of nine AAC Weekly Honors (3x Player of the Week, 6x Weekly Honor Roll). Last season, he was unanimous All-AAC First Team as well as USBWA All-District and NABC All-District. Davis led the AAC in scoring (19.0) and assists (7.6, 4th NCAA) last season, and was the only player to lead his league in both. 

SMU is 13-0 at home this season, and has won 15 straight at Moody Coliseum (T-8th NCAA active streaks). The Mustangs have wins in 34 of the last 38 games at Moody Coliseum. SMU is 6-4 on the road this season, going 6-3 in the last nine away from Moody Coliseum.

• Franklin Agunanne has played in 16 games this season, totaling 21 points and 27 rebounds. He had season highs of 8 points and 7 rebounds in the win vs Memphis Feb. 20 after. He also had 4 points, 3 rebounds and an assist in the win at Memphis.

• Emmanuel Bandoumel is averaging 10.5 points while hitting 38.0% on 3FGs (54-142) and making 2.2 threes per game (9th AAC). He had a career-high six threes (and career-best 23 points) at ECU on Feb. 12. He has hit at least four threes six times this season (SMU is 5-1). • Isiah Jasey started 15 of the first 16 games (missed game at Tulsa, and suffered a season-ending right Achilles injury vs USF 1/12). He averaged 1.1 blocked shots (8th AAC at the time of injury) and 2.9 rebounds. He had a career-high 4 blocked shots in the win versus Dayton 12/8. Last season, he started 15 of 17 games. He finished 6th in the AAC in blocked shots (1.0) while adding 3.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per contest.

• Darius McBride has made seven appearances this season. 

• Zach Nutall (2020-21 Southland Conference Player of the Year at Sam Houston) is averaging 7.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists while hitting 33.3% on 3FG (41-123).

• Jalen Smith has started 8 of 23 games played. He is averaging 2.2 points, 1.0 rebounds and he is 12-32 on 3FGs.

• Stefan Todorovic (Nike Hoop Summit, Serbian U19 Team) is averaging 2.9 points and hitting 44.4% from three in his freshman season (16-36).

LAST GAME (W, 73-57 vs Memphis on Feb. 20): DALLAS (AP) -- Kendric Davis scored 27 points, Marcus Weathers added 20 points and seven rebounds, and SMU won its 13th straight home game, topping Memphis 73-57 on Sunday. Franklin Agunanne had seven rebounds for SMU (19-6, 10-3 American Athletic Conference). Michael Weathers added six points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Lester Quinones had 13 points for the Tigers (15-9, 9-5), whose six-game winning streak was snapped. Landers Nolley II added 12 points. Jalen Duren had 11 points and four blocks. The Mustangs improve to 2-0 against the Tigers this season. SMU defeated Memphis 70-62 on Jan. 20.

THE SERIES VS. TULSA (23-33): The Mustangs have won 10 of the last 13 meetings, including the only matchup at Tulsa last season. In 2014-15, the teams met in the regular season finale when the Mustangs clinched the American Athletic Conference Championship with a 67-62 win over the Golden Hurricane in Moody Coliseum on March 8, 2015. The teams were members of the WAC from 1996 to 2005 and then Conference USA from 2005 through 2013. The series between the two schools dates back to 1919-20.

LAST MEETING (W, 74-69 at Tulsa on Dec. 29): TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Kendric Davis had 26 points as SMU edged past Tulsa 74-69 in an American Athletic Conference opener for both teams. Emmanuel Bandoumel had 13 points for SMU (10-3) and Marcus Weathers scored 10 and had 12 rebounds. Sam Griffin scored 14 points for the Golden Hurricane (6-6), Anthony Pritchard 12 and Darien Jackson 11. 

UP NEXT: The Mustangs play their final regular-season road game at Houston on Sunday. The regular season finishes with home games against Cincinnati (March 3) and Tulane on (March 6). 

BIG-SHOT BANDOUMEL: Emmanuel Bandoumel is shooting a career-high 38.0% on threes. He had a career-high six threes at East Carolina (2/12) and has has made four in a game six times this season (SMU 5-1). He hit a driving jumper with 0.2 on the clock for the 66-64 win at [-/rv] Dayton on Dec. 5, 2020. It was his second game winner. He previously hit a three that beat the shot-clock buzzer with 30 seconds left in overtime for a 73-72 victory over [20/19] Houston on Feb. 15, 2020. He also hit a three to beat the halftime horn in the 80-75 overtime loss to Missouri. 

FIVE AND DIME: Kendric Davis is averaging 19.4 points (1st AAC, 33rd NCAA) and 4.6 assists (3rd AAC, 62nd NCAA) with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (7th AAC). HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his sixth season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 39th season as a collegiate coach, and his 17th as a head coach. As a head coach, he is 277-182 (.603) [120-61 at SMU (.663), including 82-17 (.828) at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and nine NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game.

AMERICAN/SEC ALLIANCE: The American entered into a scheduling alliance with the SEC prior to the 2019-20 season that featured four teams from each conference playing home-and-home series. SMU won 92-81 in overtime in Nashville on Jan. 4, 2020. The return game was scheduled for Dec. 8, 2020 at Moody Coliseum, but was canceled due to a COVID-19 case within the Vanderbilt program. SMU swept the home-and-home series by winning 84-72 at Moody Coliseum on Dec. 4, 2021.  

TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added seven items to the trophy case. SMU won the 2014-15 and 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. SMU has also won 2019-20 Southwestern Showdown and the 2015-16 Las Vegas Classic. In 2013-14, SMU was the runner-up in the NIT.

DAVID B. MILLER COURT: On Dec. 5, 2018, SMU named the Moody Coliseum court after David B. Miller, alumnus and vice-chair of the Board of Trustees. A two-time SMU graduate, Miller earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from Edwin L. Cox School of Business. As an undergraduate, he was a three-year starter and letterman on the varsity basketball team and a member of the 1971-72 Southwest Conference Co-Championship team. Since 2011, Mr. Miller and his wife, Carolyn Lacy Miller, have given $20 million toward the expansion and renovation of Moody Coliseum as well as the construction of the Miller Event Center. He has served on the SMU Board of Trustees since 2008 and also serves as chairman of the Cox Executive Board. He is a recipient of Distinguished Alumni Awards from both the University and the Cox School. In 2009, Miller was honored with the Silver Anniversary Mustang Award by the SMU Lettermen's Association. He is also a recipient of the Methodist Health System Foundation's 2017 Folsom Leadership Award. Miller is a co-founder and partner of EnCap Investments L.P., a private equity firm based in Houston and Dallas. He also is the president of the David B. Miller Family Foundation, which he established in 2006. In addition to donating to academic and athletic programs at SMU, the Miller Family Foundation contributes to numerous charitable organizations. Carolyn Miller is vice president of the foundation. The Millers have been generous long-time donors to SMU. Their gifts have created the David B. Miller Endowed Professorship in Cox School of Business, the SMU-in-Taos Campus Center, the Don Jackson Center for Financial Studies in Cox and the EnCap Investments & LCM Group Alternative Asset Management Center, also in Cox, as well as numerous general university and school-specific scholarship funds. They also have provided support for the Crum Basketball Center, the men's basketball program and Circle of Champions in the Department of Athletics. Before establishing EnCap, Mr. Miller served as co-CEO of MAZE Exploration Inc., a Denver-based oil and gas company that he co-founded in 1981. Mr. Miller began his professional career with Republic National Bank of Dallas, ultimately serving as vice president and manager of the bank's wholly-owned subsidiary, Republic Energy Finance Corporation.
