DALLAS (SMU) – Sixteen Mustang student-athletes will be honored at the 2022 SMU Honors Convocation. The event will take place tonight, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. CT.

Honors Convocation celebrates the academic excellence achieved by SMU undergraduate students. This ceremony recognizes new honor society inductees, national fellowships, various distinguished scholarships and internships, school and departmental awards and graduating University Honors Program students.

Four student-athletes will be honored with Sport Performance Leadership Departmental Distinction Awards from the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development. Men's basketball's Emmanuel Bandoumel, football's Junior Aho and Darren Brown and women's golf's Megan Daleo will all receive the honor.

The Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences recognizes Phi Beta Kappa inductees Payton Neiberger of equestrian as well as track's Isabelle LeBey. Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor society in the liberal arts, selects students to the Society who meet stringent GPA requirements, but also demonstrate an impressive and challenging course of study, with a majority of hours completed in the liberal arts. The school also honors Psi Chi inductees Becky Morris of equestrian and rowing's Emily Baker. Morris is also listed as a Hamilton Undergraduate Research Scholar along with teammate Olivia Woodson. Hallie Wilson of rowing is a recipient of The Dr Pepper/Lazenby Award for a Graduating Senior in Chemistry from the college, while tennis' Katherine Jakeway earned Outstanding Senior in Political Science accolades.

SMU volleyball's Jadyn Bauss, Omega Rho, and swimming and diving's Jack Easton, The Departmental Award in Computer Engineering, are honored by the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering. Omega Rho is a national honor society that recognizes honor and excellence in the operations research and management science related disciplines. Undergraduates must rank in the top twenty-five percent of the class and have completed at least five semesters or seven quarters of the curricular requirements.

The Edwin L. Cox School of Business will celebrate both Outstanding Finance Major Petar Bozhilov of swimming and diving as well as Deuce Palmer of football as a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. The organization is the highest national recognition a student in business can achieve. Students selected are in the upper ten percent of their class.

Women's swimming and diving's Karsten Fields will also be inducted into Alpha Chi, which honors students from all academic disciplines who have achieved junior standing and a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher.
