DALLAS (SMU) –
Natalie Perdue registered career highs with 20 kills, 11 digs and four blocks in SMU's 3-1 (25-27, 25-18, 22-25, 15-25) loss to SFA at Moody Coliseum Saturday.
She posted her second double-double of the season in the finale of the SMU DoubleTree Invitational.
Jamison Wheeler notched her third, slamming home 13 winners and digging out 14 attacks by the opposition.
The Mustangs dropped to 2-1, while the Lady Jacks improved to 3-0 on the young campaign.
Rachel Woulfe scored the first two points of the match for SMU, making her the 14
th member of the program's 1,000-kill club. She finished with five successful attacks and three blocks on the afternoon.
Freshman
Casey Batenhorst posted a double-double in her collegiate debut with 37 assists and 15 digs, while classmate
Jentry Lamirand collected 10 digs.
Tatum Ticknor handed out nine helpers and added 18 digs in her SMU debut.
Despite trailing most of the opening set, SFA claimed five of the final six points and grabbed the early lead. The two sides equaled each other in most of the offensive stats, with the Lady Jacks holding a slight advantage in hitting percentage, .256-.220.
In the second, SMU tallied the first seven points en route to a 25-18 victory, knotting the match 1-1, at the intermission.
The Lady Jacks repeated their success from the initial set, earning the final four points of set three and snagged a 2-1 advantage.
After a kill by Perdue closed the margin to 15-14, in the fourth set, SFA rattled off a 10-1 spurt, including seven in succession to secure the triumph.
The Mustangs return to action Friday at the Islanders Classic, hosted by Texas A&M Corpus-Christi.
