Sparked by double-doubles from
Jadyn Bauss and
Marieke van der Mark, the Mustangs continued their dominance over the Tigers. SMU improved to 15-1 on its home floor in the all-time series, extended its winning streak on the Hilltop to 14 in a row.
The Mustangs recovered from a sluggish start, quickly erasing a 1-0 deficit and grabbing control of the match by winning the next two. They withstood a late push and needed extra points in the fourth to secure the victory

In a game that featured eight ties and four lead changes, the Tigers ran off 12 of the final 16 points to capture the early advantage. The Mustangs committed nine attack errors and hit .070 in the frame.
Over the next two games, SMU never trailed and the only tie occurred two rallies into the second set. SMU hit .362 over the second and third sets, while holding the opposition to .134, including .067 in the third.
Momentum swung between both sides in game four, with 14 ties and three lead changes. An attack error from the Tigers presented SMU with two match points, which they failed to convert. Knotted at 24-24, Bauss slammed home the next two points, securing the victory.
