DALLAS (SMU) – SMU improved to 8-0 at home with a 55-44 triumph over Cincinnati in American Athletic Conference action at Moody Coliseum Tuesday.

The eight-game home winning streak ranks as the third-longest streak in school history and the second-longest to open a campaign.

The Mustangs (11-5, 2-2) won their first nine contests at home to open the 2004-05 season, while the 1999-2000 squad won the final nine games at home, establishing the record. They host East Carolina at 6 p.m. Saturday with an opportunity to match the all-time mark.

Reagan Bradley paced SMU with 16 points, hitting 44% (7-16) and five steals, while Tamia Jones tallied 11 points. Jessica Peterson registered her first double-digit rebound performance, grabbing 14 with two of the team's five blocks. She surpassed her previous best with nine in the opening 20 minutes. Freshman Ella Brow dished out a game-high four assists, with six points, five rebounds and a steal.

SMU netted 12 of the final 18 points in the opening period and carried a 19-12 edge into the second. The Mustangs clamped down on the defensive end and pushed their margin to 29-14 at the intermission, holding the Bearcats (7-9, 0-3) scoreless for nearly eight minutes until Sofia Gritzali made a layup with 2:15 remaining.

In the third, Cincinnati controlled the flow early and closed to within eight at 31-23, four minutes into the frame. The lead expanded to 15 at 40-25 when Peterson laid in a putback at the 3:34 mark.

Buckets from Chantae Embry and Jones nudged the gap out to 17 at 46-29 a minute into the final stanza. Cincinnati ran off eight straight, slicing the deficit in half and forcing a Mustang timeout with 6:10 left on the clock. SMU responded with layups from Jones and Brow, squashing the uprising.
