TULSA, Okla. (SMU)- The SMU volleyball team swept Tulsa 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-16) for the second consecutive match on Saturday afternoon in the Reynolds Center.
SMU (14-6; 8-1 AAC) picked up its ninth sweep of the season and sixth consecutive road victory. SMU turned in a dominant defensive performance, holding Tulsa to .032 hitting on the day and tying its season-high in blocks with 13.
Alex Glover tallied a season-high 10 blocks, including five in the second set, while adding four kills and a pair of digs.
Sina Uluave led the Mustangs with 20 digs, and
Brooke Frazier shined on the defensive end with 14.
Jamison Wheeler led the SMU offense again, tallying 15 kills on .371 hitting and adding seven digs.
Natalie Perdue finished with 10 kills while tying her career-high of five blocks.
Emma Clothier tallied nine kills on .538 hitting.
Celia Cullen dished out a team-high 34 assists and added five digs and two blocks.
Naya Shime posted a season-high five blocks. She added three kills, seven digs, and a pair of assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One:
Starting the match for SMU were
Jamison Wheeler, Brooke Frazier, Emma Clothier, Alex Glover, Naya Shime, Celia Cullen, and Sina Uluave. A kill from Clothier and a service ace from Lauren Ohlinger got the Mustangs out to an early lead. A solo block and kill from Perdue and one from Wheeler highlighted four unanswered to extend the SMU lead to 6-2. SMU built on a one-point lead by taking six out of seven points to force a Tulsa timeout, leading 12-6. Tulsa battled back and brought the set within three, but a solo block from Glover and an assisted rejection with Shime extended SMU's lead. Kills from Shime and Wheeler helped finish off the Golden Hurricane 25-18.
Set Two:
Two assisted blocks from Glover, one with Cullen and another with Perdue, propelled the first of two early 3-0 runs that put the Mustangs out in front 10-5 and forced a Tulsa timeout. SMU took four out of the first five after the break to extend its lead to 14-6. Another Glover and Perdue block a Wheeler kill, and Clothier ace put SMU up 21-12. Tulsa battled back with four unanswered, but a kill from Perdue, a Glover and Shime block, and a Wheeler kill sealed a 25-18 victory.
Set Three:
Both teams battled back and forth to start the third frame. SMU created separation with a 10-0 run after kills from Wheeler, one from Perdue, a Frazier ace, and a block from Glover and Shime sparked six unanswered and forced a Tulsa timeout. Another pair of Wheeler kills, one from Shime, and Frazier's second ace of the set rattled off four more after the break, forcing a Golden Hurricane timeout trailing 15-7. SMU continued to control the set and took five out of the final six points of the frame to complete a dominating 25-16 victory.

Jamison Wheeler led the Mustangs in kills (15) for the ninth time this season and fourth straight match, while recording double-digit kills for the 12
th time.
Natalie Perdue recorded double-digit kills (10) for the 12
th time this season. Perdue tied her career-high with five total blocks and added two digs.
Sina Uluave led the Mustangs in digs (20) for the 11
th consecutive match and finished with double-digits for the 16
th time this season. Uluave eclipsed 20+ digs for the fourth time this season.
Celia Cullen dished out a team-high 34 assists and added five digs and two blocks. Cullen has led the Mustangs in assists in all 20 matches.
Alex Glover turned in a season-high 10 blocks marking her third five plus block performance of the season. Glover added four kills and two digs.
Emma Clothier tallied nine kills on .538 hitting. Clothier turned in a .500 or better hitting percentage for the seventh time this season. Clothier added a block and a service ace.
Brooke Frazier notched double-digit digs (14) for the eighth time this season.
Naya Shime posted a season-high five blocks. She added three kills, seven digs, and a pair of assists.
