TAMPA, Fla. (SMU) – The SMU women's soccer team fell 1-0 to South Florida at Corbett Stadium in Sunday's AAC contest.
SMU responded to USF's goal in the 35
th minute with its own offensive pressure, forcing the Bulls' backline to block or save seven shots in the next 65 minutes of play. The Mustangs outshot USF 11-7 and tripled the Bulls in corner kick opportunities (9-3), including sending three shots in the final 15 minutes.

Peyton Annen, helped SMU hold its opponent to four or fewer shots on goal for the seventh match this season.
SMU continued its defensive streak of holding its opponent to one or fewer goals for the ninth time this season against USF. SMU has now allowed one or fewer goals in 24 of 31 matches played under Head Coach
Nicole Nelson.
Samantha Estrada tallied three saves on the afternoon to boost her season save total to 47. Estrada entered Sunday's match against the Bulls with the AAC's second highest saves-per-game (4.40).

Sunday's match moves the Mustangs to a 7-4-1 overall record and 3-2-1 mark in conference play. USF, who sits atop the AAC's East Division, improved to 8-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the AAC with the win.
SMU returns to the pitch on Thursday in a home match against East Carolina at Washburne Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be livestreamed on ESPN+.
