MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- SMU men's tennis suffered its fourth road loss on Sunday, falling to Middle Tennessee, 4-1, at the Adams Tennis Center. SMU dropped the doubles point for just the second time all season, before Middle Tennessee won three singles matches to clinch the win.

Junior Julian Steinhausen recorded the singles SMU point, winning on Court 5.

The Mustangs now hold a 6-4 overall record in dual matches this season.

"We lost to a better team today," said head coach Grant Chen. "They really took it to us at a few spots. We had an early opportunity to take the doubles point and didn't get over the finish line. Antonio and Liam did a great job at line 3 getting that win early and quickly. Julian played his most complete match this season to get a point on the board. Middle Tennessee is very good and credit to them."

Middle Tennessee won the doubles point after winning a tiebreaker on Court 1. The duo of Adam Neff and Pranav Kumar gave the No. 23 ranked doubles pairing of Oskar Brostrom Poulsen and Francisco Rocha a run for their money with an 8-6 tiebreaker loss.

Liam Krall and Antonio Muniz-Hidalgo won the only doubles match for the Mustangs with a 6-3 defeat over Ondrej Horak and Shu Matsuoka.

As Julian Steinhausen and Jack Winkler fell on Court 2 to Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump 6-4, the Blue Raiders were beginning to gain momentum with their first lead of the day.

Middle Tennessee went on to win the first singles match with a straight set victory on Court 3 as No. 91 Oskar Brostrom Poulsen defeated Liam Krall 6-3, 6-1.

Julian Steinhausen shook up the Blue Raiders as he defeated Marcel Kamrowski on Court 5 6-3, 6-2. Steinhasuen gave the Mustangs their first and only point of the match.

Middle Tennessee closed in its third point of the day with a win on Court 1 as No. 80 Stijn Slump defeated Pranav Kumar 6-1, 6-4.

Middle Tennessee clinched the match on Court 6 a few minutes later ending play on Court 2 and 4 while Neff and Muniz-Hidalgo were on serve.
