Nicole Stambo begins postseason action at the 2023 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships Tuesday. The three-day event is being held at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Stambo will represent SMU on 1 meter, 3 meter and platform at the event. Stambo is coming off a championship performance on 1 meter at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, and also earned all-league honors on platform with a third-place finish and was fifth on 3 meter.
Named the 2022 AAC Most Outstanding Diver, Stambo is a three-time College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American and was recently named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selection. She has posted 11 career NCAA Zone scores, won four individual conference championships and amassed seven All-AAC honors. Stambo has earned seven conference diver of the week accolades, and has been named to the AAC All-Academic team three times.
Top Career Zone Finishes
This is the fourth career Zone appearance for the senior, who posted career-best placements in 2022. Stambo was 16th on both 1 and 3 meter and 14th on platform.
Schedule/Event Info
Preliminary action begins at 11 a.m. CT each day with finals to follow 15 minutes after the conclusion. The top 18 divers move on to finals and scores will carry over.

Qualifying Spots Available
Listed below are the qualifying spots available on each event for Zone D. If a diver automatically qualifies in an event based on the numbers below, they will also be invited to the NCAA Championships in an event they place in the top 12 at the Zone Championships, provided they have achieved the zone qualifying score for that event prior to the NCAA Championships.

Luana Alonso in representing SMU at the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships March 15-18 in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
