Jun 9

DALLAS- The SMU men's tennis team has been ranked sixth in the Texas Region by the ITA, announced Friday afternoon. The Mustangs earn a top-10 ranking for the second year in a row. The Mustangs finished the spring season with an 18-14 overall record. SMU entered the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive season after securing their second straight American Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship on Apr. 23. The No. 4 seed SMU became the lowest seeded team to win the championship. Three of the five teams ranked above the Mustangs are ranked in the top 20 nationally. These include No. 3 Texas, No. 4 TCU and No. 19 Texas A&M.

In addition to the Mustangs' team ranking, three players are ranked in the top 20 individually for the region. After his historic year, Adam Neff finds himself ranked at No. 13. Neff went 18-6 overall, 16-3 in dual matches, winning the AAC Player of the Year. Neff earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Singles Championship, for the first time since 2006, as the highest ranked player in the AAC. Fellow junior, Liam Krall is ranked No. 19, having played primarily at line No. 2 for the Mustangs. Krall held a 11-10 dual match record. Closing out the rankings is Pranav Kumar at the No. 20 spot. Kumar went 10-11 in dual matches, and won the AAC Championships' award for Most Outstanding Performer after he was a combined 5-1 in singles and doubles, including singles victories in all three wins.

Kumar and Neff came in as the sixth ranked doubles team in the region. The duo played all of their matches at line No. 1 and went 11-5 in dual matches together earning them All-Conference Doubles honors.
