• SMU hits the road for the first time this year, heading to Norman to take on No. 18 Oklahoma.
• The Mustangs picked up a 38-14 victory in their season opener against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 2.

• SMU got its fifth straight season-opening victory against the Bulldogs this past Saturday.
• The Mustangs had 457 yards of total offense in the win.
• SMU was led by career days from
Preston Stone and
LJ Johnson Jr.
• Stone set career highs in passing attempts (37), completions (23), yards (248) and passing touchdowns (3).
• Johnson Jr. recorded his first 100-yard rushing game in his collegiate career with 128 yards.
THE SERIES
• The Mustangs are 1-5-1 all-time against the Sooners.
• Oklahoma has won the last four meetings in the series.
• The teams last met on Sept. 16, 1995, a 24-10 win for OU in Norman.
• SMU's lone win in the series came on Dec. 31, 1968, a 28-27 victory in the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl.
ABOUT THE SOONERS
• The Sooners (1-0, 0-0 Big 12) enter the game coming off a 73-0 win over Arkansas State at home this past Saturday.
• The 73-point win was Oklahoma's largest victory margin in a season opener since 1917.
THE COACHES
•
Rhett Lashlee is in his second season as the head coach at SMU and has an 8-6 career record. Lashlee, who served as offensive coordinator for the Mustangs for two seasons (2018-19), also served as the offensive coordinator at Miami in 2020 and 2021. A one-time finalist (2013) and two-time semifinalist (2019, 2020) for the Broyles Award, Lashlee has the distinction of being the only coach ever nominated for the Broyles Award four different times at four different schools (Arkansas State, Auburn, SMU, Miami).
• Brent Venables is in his second season with Oklahoma and has a career record of 7-7. In Venables' first season, he led the Sooners to a 6-7 record with an appearance in the Cheez-It Bowl.
HISTOR-ACC DAY
• SMU celebrated one of the most important moments in the school's history on Sept. 1 when it received and accepted an invitation to join the Atlantic Coast Conference.
• With the inclusion of SMU and the other two schools, the ACC will have 18 members.
