2023 CSC Academic All-America Team

DALLAS (SMU)- SMU volleyball's Celia Cullen was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Third-Team Academic All-America selection, the association announced on Tuesday. The 2023 Academic All-America Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

A senior setter from Brighton, Michigan, Cullen has a 4.00 cumulative GPA as a Sports Management Major. Cullen was named the American Athletic Conference Setter of the Year after finishing the regular season ranking first in the league in assists per set and second in total assists. The senior setter passed out 1,207 total assists (26th nationally) and 10.59 per set (20th nationally). Cullen led the Mustangs in assists in all 33 matches and turned in six double-doubles. Cullen recorded a season-high 58 assists against Florida Atlantic on Oct. 8 while also eclipsing 3,000 career assists. Cullen earned All-Tournament Honors at the Stacey Clark Classic. 

The Mustangs finished the season with a 26-7 overall record and won the AAC championship. SMU finished league play with an 18-1 record, marking the best conference winning percentage in program history (.947), and won the program's first league title since 2016.
