Jennings Earns Spot On Davey O’Brien Great 8 For Week 10

Nov 4

FORT WORTH, Texas (Davey O'Brien Foundation/SMU) – For the second time in three weeks, SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings has been tabbed to the Davey O'Brien Award Great 8, the Davey O'Brien Foundation announced on Monday.

The Oak Cliff native earns the accolade following a dazzling performance as he led the Mustangs to a 48-25 statement victory over No. 18 Pitt.

Jennings racked up 306 yards through the air on 17-25 passing along with two touchdowns. He's now had at least 250 passing yards in every ACC game this season.

His first touchdown of the day came late in the second quarter, when he found Brashard Smith in the end zone for a three-yard touchdown to extend SMU's first half lead. Early in the fourth, he connected on his second touchdown pass of the night by finding Matthew Hibner for an 80-yard score to put an exclamation mark on the Mustang victory. With the completion to Hibner, Jennings now has completed a TD pass of at least 80 yards in three consecutive games.

Since being named the starter prior to the TCU game, Jennings has led the Mustangs to six consecutive wins, with all six being over power-conference opponents and five being ACC matchups. SMU has averaged 43 points per game during the winning streak.

For the season, he has accumulated 1,900 yards through the air with 12 touchdowns along with 317 yards on the ground and three scores. In conference games alone, Jennings boasts a passer efficiency rating of 178.6, the best mark in the ACC.

The sophomore was previously named to the list following his week eight performance against Stanford. Last week, he was officially added to the Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2024 and is in the running for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Year award.

Fans can vote for Jennings for the award on the award's official Instagram, Twitter/X and Facebook accounts until November 8.

Thirteenth-ranked SMU is set to enjoy its final bye week of the regular season before a matchup with Boston College on November 16 at Ford Stadium.
