FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – No. 11 seed Temple stormed back in the second half to defeat No. 6 seed SMU, 75-60, in the second round of the 2024 American Men's Basketball Championship on Thursday, March 14 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

With the win, the Owls (14-19) advanced to the quarterfinals and will face No. 3 Charlotte on Friday, March 15 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on ESPNU.

The Owls become the first No. 11 seed to make the American Championship quarterfinals and the 2024 tournament is the first American Championship to feature two double-digit seeds in the quarterfinals.

SMU (20-12) led 43-36 with 15:17 remaining, but Temple went on a 27-6 run to take a 63-49 lead. The Owls had balanced scoring with four in double figures, led by Hysier Miller with 21 points and six assists. Steve Settle added 14 points, while Shane Dezonie recorded 12.

The Mustangs were led by Chuck Harris, who had 10 points.
