DALLAS (AP) -- Chuck Harris scored 16 points and Zhuric Phelps scored four in overtime and SMU beat East Carolina 80-77 on Wednesday night.
Harris shot 5 of 13 from the field, including 2 for 6 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 5 from the line for the Mustangs (20-10, 11-6 American Athletic Conference). Phelps shot 2 of 16 from the field, including 1 for 8 from 3-point range, and went 10 for 10 from the line to add 15 points. Ricardo Wright had 10 points and shot 4 for 9, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc.
RJ Felton led the Pirates (14-16, 7-10) in scoring, finishing with 28 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Johnson added 13 points and 11 rebounds for East Carolina. Cyr Malonga also had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Phelps made the game-tying 3-pointer with five seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime.
SMU next plays Sunday against UAB on the road, and East Carolina will host Charlotte on Saturday.
