MOBILE, Ala. (SMU/Panini Senior Bowl) – SMU safety Ahmaad Moses has been named the Stock Up Defensive Player of the Week, announced the Panini Senior Bowl in a release on Monday.
Moses had an explosive performance in the Mustangs' victory over No. 10 Miami. The senior registered a career-high 15 tackles, including two tackles-for-loss. Moses notched two interceptions, making it his second career game with multiple interceptions. Both of his interceptions led to touchdowns for the Mustangs in the following drive, including the takeaway in overtime to stop the Hurricanes' drive.
Nationally, Moses is tied for first in total interceptions with five. The Texas native leads the conference in interceptions per game (0.56), good for fifth in FBS. Moses is a vital part of the SMU defense that is ranked first in the nation in turnovers gained (22), fourth in passes intercepted (14) and fourth in red zone defense (0.647), all conference-leading marks.
At the start of the season, the safety was selected as the ACC Defensive Back of the Week after his performance against East Texas A&M on Sept. 2 when he caught an interception and took it 95 yards to score a touchdown. Prior to the start of the season, Moses was named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-ACC Second Team, the Athlon Sports Preseason All-ACC First Team, the Panini Senior Bowl Top 300 List and the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 List.
