IRVING, Texas (NFF/SMU) – Six members of the SMU football team have been recognized for their work in the classroom by being named to the 2025 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, the organization announced in a release on Wednesday.
Â
Jake Bailey,
Anthony Booker Jr. Matthew Hibner,
Jonathan McGill,
Logan Parr and
Ben Sparks all earned their names on the prestigious list.
Â
The six selections were the most SMU has had selected since the 2022 class. The Mustangs are one of seven FBS schools that have had at least one student-athlete selected every year since its inception in 2007.
Â
The group earned the honor after playing key parts in SMU's 11-3 season that included a trip to the ACC Championship game and College Football Playoff.
Â
Hibner appeared in all 14 games, earning 24 receptions for 368 yards and four receiving touchdowns. Bailey appeared in eight games, starting six, before missing the rest of the year due to injury in 2024. In his eight games, he recorded 19 receptions for 275 yards.Â
Â
McGill boasted a career-high 58 tackles after appearing in every game in 2025. Booker Jr. appeared and started in 13 games and recorded 17 tackles, 2.5 TFLs and a scoop and score during the season.Â
Â
Parr appeared and started in 13 games, while Sparks saw action in 12 matchups. This marks the second consecutive year that Spark has been named to the Honor Society.
Â
Division III's Saint John's (MN) led all programs among all divisions with 26 members, setting an all-time record for the most honorees from one school in a single year. Kansas topped the FBS programs with 22 honorees.
Â
Twenty-two colleges and universities have had at least one player in all 19 years of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society (2007-25), including BYU, Brown, Bucknell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Dayton, Iowa, Johns Hopkins (MD), Kentucky, Lafayette, Minnesota, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Penn State, Redlands (CA), SMU, South Dakota State, Wayne State (MI), West Virginia, Wingate (NC), Yale and Youngstown State.
