Multiple Mustangs Set To Compete At 2025 World University Games

DALLAS (SMU) — Five Mustangs are set to compete at the 2025 FISU World University Games on July 16-27 at Rhine-Rhur, Germany. Five student-athletes and one head coach will represent Team USA, while one Mustangs will representing Latvia.
 
SMU Men's Tennis' Trevor Svajda and Jerry Barton will compete on the court beginning July 17. Alongside them will be Head Coach Grant Chen who was appointed to the Team UniUSA tennis contingent for the games. Svajda will be competing in the men's singles draw while Barton will compete in the men's doubles and mixed doubles brackets.

On men's doubles, Barton will pair with Stanford's Nico Godsick, before partnering up with California's Olivia Center in the mixed doubles bracket.
  
All-American diver Luke Sitz will represent SMU on the Team USA diving contingent. The diving events will also begin on July 17 with Sitz competing on three events; 3-meter (July 18), synchronized 3-meter (July 23) and the mixed team event (July 23).

SMU sophomore swimmer Kristaps Mikelsons was selected to represent Latvia. He will race the 100 breast (July 17), 200m IM (July 18), 200m breast (July19) and the 50m breast (July 21).

Freshman rower Agne Kubaytite will compete for the Lithuania University Team mixed quadruple sculls with heats starting on July 25.
 
The UniUSA delegation for the Germany will comprise of over 500 athletes, coaches and staff across 19 sports.
