RESULTS
STANFORD, Calif. (SMU) – SMU men's golf sits in a tie for fourth place among 30 teams after round one of the Goodwin.
 
The Mustangs posted a strong day one against a field of 14 of the 30 teams ranked in the top 50. They recorded a five under score to sit six shots off the lead. Three Mustangs posted rounds in the 60s. The team is tied with Cal and BYU for fourth place while hosts Stanford leads the field at 11-under.
 
Will Sides paced the Mustang squad with a 67 on his scorecard. He birdied the last three holes to move from even par to three-under. Sides sits in a tie for ninth. The performance marked his 13^th round in the 60s this season and moved his season scoring average down to 70.17.
 
Ben Steinmann posted his eighth round of par or better this season in just 15 rounds. The freshman shot 68 to sit at two-under par. He holds a share of 18^th place. Steinmann birdied two of his last three holes to advance into the top 20.
 
Zachary Kingsland shot his fourth round in the 60s this season with a score of 69. He holds a share of 27^th at one-under par. He shot an impressive 33 on his first nine holes.
 
Christian Clark came in at one-over par 71. He sits in 57^th. Gabe Post shot a 74 to hold a share of 102^nd.
 
The Mustangs take on the middle round of the Goodwin on Friday. They will be paired alongside golfers from Little Rock and Cincinnati along with independent golfers. Tee times begin at 9 am CT / 7 am PT.
