DALLAS – Mustang Partners today announced a $2 million gift from Craig and Carrie Levering, B.B.A. '79, further strengthening SMU Athletics' commitment to providing a world-class experience for Mustangs on and off the field.
The gift will directly support the Student-Athlete Benefit Fund, which provides critical resources to help SMU student-athletes thrive academically, athletically, and personally while competing at the highest levels.
Craig Levering, B.B.A. '79, has served as an active leader and supporter of his alma mater through service and philanthropy. Longtime supporters of SMU Athletics, Craig and Carrie have been football and basketball season ticket holders since 1980. As a member of the SMU Cox Executive Board, Craig, alongside his wife, Carrie, has helped strengthen the University through investments including the Levering Family Classroom at the Cox School of Business. Their latest commitment reflects a continued belief in the future of SMU Athletics and the University.

The Student-Athlete Benefit Fund is a key component of Mustang Partners' efforts to provide meaningful resources and opportunities for SMU student-athletes in an increasingly competitive collegiate athletics landscape. Earlier this year, the Boulevard Society launched with a transformative $50 million commitment from Liz and Bill Armstrong, Carolyn and David Miller, Katy and Kyle Miller, and Mary and Rich Templeton. Their leadership investment sparked an ambitious effort to secure an additional $50 million in philanthropic commitments through the Boulevard Society by December 31, 2026. With this latest commitment, we have now reached $24.18 million toward that goal.
