Nelson Reaches 100 Career Wins in 4-0 Victory Over Southern

DALLAS (SMU) –  SMU women's soccer forward Kaylee Noble's first-half brace led the Mustangs to a 4-0 victory over Southern on Thursday inside Washburne Stadium.

The Mustangs (3-1-1, 0-0-0) dominated the game from the start, outshooting Southern (0-2-0, 0-0-0 SWAC) 30-2. Noble recorded her first career brace as a Mustang as both Sarah Bonnecaze and Zoe Parkhurst each found the back of the net in the team's third shutout win of the year.

With the win, Head Coach Nicole Nelson earned her 100th career win as the Mustangs remained unbeaten at home this season.

The Mustangs spent much of the night in the attacking zone, totaling 10 corners in the first half and 15 in total. Noble opened the game up for the Mustangs in the 26th minute on a feed from Julianne Richter. Richter recorded her fourth assist of the season; she entered the night tied for first in the ACC in total assists.

In the 26th minute, SMU found the back of the net again as Bonnecaze netted her first goal of the season, taking advantage of a turnover deep in the attacking zone on a feed from Lisa Beyer.

In the closing minutes of the first half, Noble raced down the field before side-stepping the diving SU goalkeeper and gently tapping the ball in for her second goal of the game.

SMU led 3-0 at the break, outshooting Southern 14-1. The Mustangs capped off the night with Parkhurst netting her second goal of the season, a rocket of a shot from well outside the box to reach the match's final score. Shots were 16-1 in favor of SMU in the second half. Brooke Bunton led SMU in shots with six and Aubrey Brown finished the game with one save. 

The match was the Mustangs' 26th shutout under Nelson as SMU has now outscored its opponents 11-1 at home this season.
