Welcome to the SMU Swim Camp and Clinics! We look forward to resuming one of the nation’s premiere summer swim camps for 2023. We believe in bringing World-Class coaching and knowledge to athletes early in their careers for years of benefit. All the Mustang Swim Camp staff coaches have either coached Olympic Gold Medalists or have been directly mentored and coached by an Olympic Gold Medalist. With this knowledge, we present the unique opportunity to learn elite skills demonstrated on the world stage straight from the source. Our curriculum has been developed by Head Coach Greg Rhodenbaugh. USA National Team Coach Rhodenbaugh has a lengthy resume including 5 Olympic Gold Medalists, 1 World Record Holder, 12 Olympians, 26 NCAA Champions, and well over 100 multiple event NCAA All-Americans. In just the past decade his athletes have achieved All-American status in over 200 efforts. Since Coach Rhodenbaugh has returned to SMU, Mustang Swim Camp has had 100% of our students improve within 2 months of attending a clinic. We put an emphasis on making the improvement process for your campers as enjoyable as possible. At the end of the day, a happy swimmer is a fast swimmer.   Camp Session I will be 4 days and cover starts, turns, breakouts, race strategy, and championship preparation. Athletes will be at the Robson and Lindley Aquatic Center for practice, lunch and classroom learning sessions reviewing the skills we have covered with video analysis. This will be followed by a dryland session that will focus on exercises they can do outside of their normal practice times that will help them increase their athletic potential and longevity. This camp aims to help young athletes minimize mistakes and maximize proven, effective techniques to exponentially improve their performances working on skills that do not get much attention during normal workouts. We will implement the use of underwater cameras during the afternoon session with 1 on 1 instruction to identify and learn individualized skills they need to start each length the right way for the remainder of their career. Session II will be a 4-day stroke and training camp.  Each day we will focus on one stroke with a stroke-specific training session along with an introductory to athletic movements/dry land session. The morning session will cover drills that will challenge young athletes to help them develop the necessary skills to take them to the next level. We will keep the athletes at the Robson and Lindley Aquatic Center for lunch and have a classroom learning session on the stroke of the day. This will be followed by a dryland session that will focus on exercises they can do outside of their normal practice times that will help them increase their athletic potential and longevity. We will implement the use of underwater cameras during the second session with 1 on 1 instruction and drive home the habits that will stay with them for the remainder of their career. Per NCAA rules, this camp is open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age and/or grade level
