What are the benefits of donating to the Mustang Club?
In addition to the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of SMU student-athletes, there are tangible benefits, depending on level, that Mustang Club members receive on an annual basis. Such benefits include: ability to purchase reserved parking, priority seating, home and away football ticket priorities and Mustang Club hospitality.
Can I use a corporate matching gift to increase my contribution?
Yes, matching gifts are encouraged by the Mustang Club and allows for an increase in your contribution. Please contact your employer's Human Resources office to ensure they will match to the Mustang Club or click here to see if your company has a matching gift program. Please present all pertinent paper work to the Mustang Club office. Please note, matching gifts may not fulfill seating donation requirements.
How are away games, bowl and post season tickets assigned?
Tickets for away games and bowl games or post season tournaments, including conference tournaments, are allocated by the Mustang Club and SMU Ticket Office according to current giving level and Priority Point rank within each giving level. Is my donation tax-deductible?
Any donation to a capital project, sport-specific fund, endowment, etc. will be considered tax-deductible. Donations to these funds cannot be used to fulfill your seating requirement for Men's Basketball and Football season tickets. However, donations to fulfill a seating requirement for Football and Men's Basketball are not tax-deductible. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 eliminated the deductibility of gifts made for the purpose of purchasing tickets to college athletic events. Donations made in excess of seating donation requirements are still tax-deductible, however. Please consult your tax advisor.
I would like to make a gift from my donor advised fund for SMU Athletics. Is that possible?
We accept gifts from donor advised funds to SMU Athletics. Gifts from DAFs cannot be used to fulfill seating requirement donations attached to Men's Basketball and Football. Please view this document to understand how to donate to SMU Athletics using a donor advised funds (DAF).
