Bret Grant joined the SMU staff in July of 2018 and serves as the assistant director of football operations.
In his current role, he assists with TeamWorks profiles and calendars, helps with travel and serves as the advance travel liaison for home games. Grant also serves as a liaison between the recruiting office and creative staff and assists player personnel.
Prior to his time on the Hilltop, Grant worked as an assistant director of football operations/director of player personnel with the Lamar University football team. During his time in Beaumont, Grant was responsible for coordinating team travel as well as managing home and away travel itineraries. He also oversaw all equipment operations.
From a recruiting aspect, Grant was responsible for recruiting mail and emails, video, graphics and social media; identifying, evaluating and collecting data on prospects; creating and managing the recruiting database and planning, coordinating and attending official and unofficial visits. Â
Grant began his career as an operations intern at Texas A&M where he assisted with team travel and served as a liaison to NFL scouts and executives. He worked daily with members of the academic and compliance staffs and managed team travel.
