SMU Athletics

Joe Grilz joined the SMU staff in February of 2018 and serves as the assistant director of player personnel.

Grilz came to the Hilltop from his alma mater, Pittsburg State University (Kan.), where he worked as an equipment manager from fall 2016 to fall 2017. He also served the same role in 2014.

Between stints at Pittsburg State, Grilz worked as an equipment manager and in recruiting operations at Texas State (2015-16).

Grilz is originally a native of Girard, Kansas.
