SMU Athletics

Mike Maples is in his ninth season at SMU, serving as the Director of Video Services. In his role, Maples handles all in-house digital recording and video equipment and coordinates the filming of all games and practices at SMU.

He came to the Hilltop after serving as a video assistant for the Dallas Cowboys from 1996-2000.

Maples supervises a staff that includes assistant coordinator Tim Allmon, a graduate assistant and four student and part-time workers. He handles all video exchange between SMU and its opponents and breaks down all footage and provides cut-ups of every game for the SMU coaching staff.

He was named Co-Conference Video Coordinator of the Year in 2002. A member of the College Sports Video Association, Maples earned his bachelor’s degree in radio, television and film from North Texas in 1998.

Maples and his wife, Sara, both natives of Coppell, live in Lewisville and are the parents of two daughters, Emma and Kate.
