Nathan Packard has served as an equipment manager with the Mustangs since August 2018, working primarily with the football, swimming and diving, women’s soccer and cheer and pom teams. This is Packard’s second stint at SMU, having served as an assistant equipment manager from Sept. 2014 to June 2015.
Prior to arriving on the Hilltop, Packard served in coaching roles at Austin College (2017-18), Southwest Minnesota State (2016-17) and Battle (Mo.) High School (2015-16).
Packard also worked as an athlete recovery specialist for CryoUSA, and served as an equipment manager assistant and sport lab intern with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Packard graduated from Austin College in 2013 with a degree in psychology and a minor in exercise and sport science. He was a member of the football team and earned SCAC first-team honors as a linebacker and was a member of the SCAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
He went on to earn a Master of Education in Educational, School and Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Positive Coaching from Missouri in 2016, and a Master of Business Administration from Southwest Minnesota State in 2017.
