Reggie Bain enters his second season with SMU in 2026 in the role of assistant offensive line coach.
In 2025, Bain helped coach an offensive line that allowed the Mustangs to average 283.1 passing yards per game, ranking 12th nationally and second in the conference. With the line performing at an elite level, SMU led the ACC in red zone offense (0.909), good for 19th in FBS.
The Mustangs had multiple members of the offensive line nab All-ACC honors in the postseason with Logan Parr (first team), PJ Williams (second team) and Joshua Bates (honorable mention) all securing conference recognitions. Parr was also selected as the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week on Nov. 24, earning the accolade after his dominant performance in SMU's dominant 38-6 win over Louisville. Bates garnered midseason honors as well, getting added to the Rimington Award Midseason Watch List.
He previously spent three years as a graduate assistant at Miami, where he also worked with the offensive line.Â
Prior to Miami, Bain spent the 2021 season at Illinois as an offensive graduate assistant, where he helped the Fighting Illini to a pair of road-ranked wins in 2021. The Illini won at #7 Penn State in nine overtimes, the longest game in college football history, and won at #20 Minnesota, the program’s first-ever win over a College Football Playoff ranked opponent.
Before coaching, Bain played in 50 games at FAU from 2014-18. He was a 247Sports Freshman All-American and Conference-USA All-Freshman Team pick as a true freshman in 2014, All-Conference USA second team honoree as a sophomore, and then had back-to-back All-Conference USA first team seasons as a junior and senior.
After Bain’s sophomore season in 2015, he missed the following year due to a broken hip suffered in a motor scooter accident. Bain watched many of the Owls’ 2016 games from an outpatient rehabilitation center, before working all the way back to all-conference form in 2017 and 2018.
Bain is a native of Miami, Florida, and a graduate of Miami Central High School. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in management.
