Ryan Jenkins enters his third season at SMU in 2026 as the assistant wide receivers coach.
In the 2025 campaign, Jenkins aided Rob Likins in coaching a wide receivers core that ranked 12th nationally in passing offense, averaging 283.1 yards per game. The receiving talent was widespread, having six receivers post at least 300 yards on the year and three record multiple 100-yard receiving games. The Mustangs had at least seven receivers catch a pass in every game in the 2025 season.
Senior receiver Jordan Hudson was dynamic for the Mustangs, posting career highs in total receptions (61) and total receiving yards (766) along with three 100-yard receiving performances and six touchdowns. The Garland native secured All-ACC honors for his breakout year along with junior Yamir Knight, who also recorded career highs in both receptions (54) and yards (637).
In 2024, the unit showcased its depth once again, as the passing game was among the best in the country. The Mustangs had four receivers record at least 350 yards receiving on the season along with 20 receptions.
SMU’s offense was explosive once again, finishing the year ranked ninth in scoring at 36.5 points per game, the seventh-highest average in program history. The passing game ranked 31st in the country and was efficient, ranking 20th in team passing efficiency in 2024.
Roderick Daniels Jr. led the receiving core with a breakout year, finishing with a career high in receptions (42), yards (663) and touchdowns (4). Also joining Smith in a breakout campaign with Key’Shawn Smith, who posted career bests in receptions, yards and touchdowns. Both earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors on the year.
Jenkins previously spent the 2023 year at Arizona State as a graduate assistant with the Sun Devils.
