Sam Gregg enters his first season on the Hilltop in 2026 as the senior assistant to the defensive coordinator.
Before joining the Mustangs, Gregg spent the 2025 season at Southeastern Louisiana as an offensive line coach.
Gregg came to Southeastern Louisiana after spending three seasons as offensive line coach at Southern Miss, helping the Golden Eagles win the Lending Tree Bowl in his first season. His unit cleared the way for back-to-back 1,000-plus yard seasons for running back Frank Gore Jr.
Prior to joining the staff at USM, Gregg worked with Scott Symons at Liberty, leading the Flames to three winning seasons (2019-2021). The Flames advanced to and won bowl games each of Gregg’s years with the program.
Gregg also spent several seasons coaching alongside Symons at West Georgia as well, helping bring the Wolves to three NCAA Division II playoff appearances (2014, 2015 and 2017), back-to-back 12-win seasons, two NCAA Division II Super Region 2 titles (2014 and 2015) and a Gulf South Conference crown in 2015.
Gregg had stints at West Alabama (2008-13), Arkansas-Monticello (2007) and Southwest Baptist (2005-06), starting his coaching career as a graduate assistant offensive line coach at Memphis in 2004.
A 2002 graduate of Murray State, Gregg and his wife, Mandy, have one son, Britt.
