SMU Athletics

Hanna Axene was named the Assistant Director/Eligibility Coordinator for the Academic Development for Student- Athletes (ADSA) in Spring 2020. She is responsible for eligibility monitoring for all SMU Student-Athletes. She serves as  the Lead Academic Counselor Football and Men’s Basketball.

Axene came to the SMU during spring of 2017 as the Academic Counselor for Men’s Basketball.

Prior to returning to the Hilltop, Axene was the Athletic Academic Advisor for the football program at the University of South Alabama.

Axene’s career in collegiate athletics began in 2015 at SMU, where she served as a Graduate Assistant in the Athletic Student Services Department. She earned her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees, both in Sport Management, from SMU. A former Student-Athlete, Axene is passionate about her career in intercollegiate athletics and grateful to be working in this role at her alma mater.
