Jason Reed is in his 11th season (2018-19) as the equipment manager for SMU basketball.

Reed came to SMU after four years as the head student manager for the LSU men's basketball team under coach John Brady. While with the Tigers, the squad won the 2006 SEC Championship and advanced to the Final Four in Indianapolis. The team also won the 2005 SEC Western Division crown.

Reed graduated from LSU with a B.S. in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports studies in May of 2008. His father Don has a bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph. D from LSU, and his mom, Jeannie is a high school tennis coach. His brother, Matthew, graduated from LSU in 2006.

Reed is a Louisiana native, growing up in Bogalusa and moving to St. Francisville in middle school. Before going to LSU, Reed graduated as the salutatorian from Wilkinson County Christian Academy in Woodville, Miss.
