Matt Robinson is in his ninth season (2016-17) at SMU, his sixth as the Associate Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS). He joined the A-LEC in July 2008.
Before SMU, he was a Manager of International Housing and Learning Specialist at Oklahoma. Robinson has taught courses in ORACLE (Optimum, Reading, Attention, Comprehension, Learning Efficiency) as well as Freshman Seminar courses. His Primary role was overseeing all SAAS counselors and working with all sports, excluding football and basketball.
Robinson has worked with student-athletes at the University of Oklahoma as well as international students before coming to SMU. One of his career highlights at SMU has been guiding women's tennis student-athlete Shahzoda Hatamova, an international student from Uzbekistan, through a rigorous academic curriculum and seeing her accepted to Cox School of Business.
Robinson graduated from Oklahoma with a degree in sociology in 2005 and a master's in higher education with an emphasis in intercollegiate athletic administration in 2007.
Robinson is married to his high school sweetheart Vanessa Flores-Robinson. They have a son, Landon, and a daughter, Jailynn.
