Michele Pappas is starting her fifth season as the Volunteer Assistant Diving Coach on the Hilltop. Pappas assists with practices for men and women divers, adding another pair of eyes to help evaluate the divers. She also travels with the teams when schedules conflict.
Pappas has been coaching age group diving in the Dallas area for the past 23 years. During her stint, she coached many age group finalists and National Champions.
She is no stranger to the traditions of SMU swimming and diving as she graduated from SMU in 1981 with a degree in Communications Disorders. She was a four-year letters winner and six-time All-American. Her highest collegiate finish was second her senior year at the AIAW National Championships. She was a member of the U.S. National team for six years, winning the 1979 U.S. National Championships (three-meter) and the 1979 Swedish Cup. She competed in the 1980 Olympic Trials finishing seventh.
Pappas is married to former SMU swimmer, Tom Pappas. Tom and Michele have three children.
