Jen Jones enters her first season on the Hilltop as a Sports Performance Coach for Women’s Basketball in 2025.
Before arriving at SMU she spent the previous sive season as the Assistant AD Sports Performance at Aurburn. Jones oversees all aspects of strength & conditioning for Auburn’s Olympic sports and was the strength and conditioning coach for the Tigers women's basketball program.
Jones went to Auburn from Purdue University where she served as Director of Strength & Conditioning for Olympic sports from 2017-19.
In 2011, Jones was named Master Strength & Conditioning Coach (MSCC) by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. The designation is the highest honor that can be achieved as a strength & conditioning coach, representing professionalism, knowledge, experience and expertise, as well as longevity in the field.
Prior to Purdue, Jones served as an assistant strength coach at Texas A&M from 2004-17, working with women’s basketball. She was also the head strength coach for women's athletics at the University of Arkansas (2001-04) and an assistant strength & conditioning coach at the University of Houston (1997-2000).
At Houston, Jones was responsible for the development and implementation of team and individualized conditioning programs for all Olympic sports. She designed separate programs for weight training, agility, speed and flexibility. She also supervised undergraduate and graduate staff while maintaining the facility.
Jones graduated from Michigan State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She later completed a Master of Science in Sports Management from Texas A&M University in 2015.
