Claire Oates rejoins the SMU soccer team, this time as a graduate assistant for Head Coach Nicole Nelson’s staff.  

Oates played her last of four seasons for the Mustangs in 2017. She started 81 games, scored 23 goals and tallied 6 assists in her career and was selected as First Team All-AAC in 2017. Oates was also honored as Second Team All-AAC in 2015 and 2016, and was named AAC Rookie of the Year in 2014. 

After her first stint with SMU, Oates took her talents overseas to play professionally for US Citta di Pontedera, FC Saarbrücken and JyPK.

Oates graduated from SMU in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Applied Physiology and Sport Management, and minored in Advertising. She is currently working to earn a master's degree in Health Promotion Management.
