Peter Kenn is entering his third year at SMU (2024-25) leading the Olympic Sports Performance Department. Over the past two years Kenn directly coached and worked with Equestrian (2022-present), Men's Golf (2024), Men's Soccer (2022-present), Women's Soccer (2022-present), Men's Swimming and Diving (2022-present), Women's Swimming and Diving (2022-24), Track and Field (2022-present).
These SMU teams have claimed two national championships (Equestrian 2023 & 2024), three conference titles (Men’s Soccer 2023, Men’s Swimming & Diving 2023 & 2024), 47 individual or event conference championships, 28 All-America honors, 11 conference player/athlete of the year selections and 148 all-conference awards. In 2024, nine members of the men’s swimming and diving program earned invitations to the U.S. Olympic trials.
Prior to SMU, he was at Army West Point for a year as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach working primarily with sprint football, rifle, and wrestling. Prior to Army West Point, Kenn had various strength and conditioning internships at Iowa State, Wake Forest, Appalachian State, and the Carolina Panthers.
Kenn has a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a master's degree in exercise science from Appalachian State, a master's degree in higher education from Iowa State, and is currently working toward a doctorate in higher education at SMU. During his time in college Kenn competed in Track and Field for six years at Appalachian State and Iowa State from 2015-21.
