Ten-time Grand Slam champion, Anne Smith, Ph.D., completed her third season as the sports psychologist for SMU women's tennis. During her playing career, she won 10 Grand Slam championships in doubles and mixed doubles as she ascended to No. 1 in the world in doubles in 1980 and 1981, and reached a career-high No.12 in singles in 1982. She served as the mental training consultant for Harvard University's women's tennis team in 2006 when the Crimson broke into the top 10 for the first time.

Smith has a doctorate in educational psychology with a specialization in school psychology from the University of Texas. She was the recipient of the 2009 United States Olympic Committee's "Doc" Counsilman Science Award for her contributions in the areas of sports psychology and mental training. Smith is the author of GRAND SLAM Coach Your Mind to Win in Sports, Business, and Life; and MACH 4® Mental Training System: Tennis Handbook and Workbook II for Coaches, Parents, and Players.

She is one of only 20 women in the history of the open era of tennis to win ten or more Grand Slam titles, and one of only 13 women in the open era to complete a career Grand Slam in women's doubles; winning three U.S. Open championships, two Wimbledon titles, four French Open crowns, and one Australian Open. Smith won her 10 Grand Slam championships from 1980 to 1984. She was the first American to win the French Open Junior Championships.

Smith later won the 35-and-over women's doubles at the U.S. Open and Wimbledon in 1997, and she and Stan Smith won the Champions Invitational Mixed Doubles at the U.S. Open in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She also coached the World Team Tennis Boston Lobsters in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
