Bivin Sadler

    Women's Volleyball Volunteer Assistant Coach
Bivin Sadler returns to the SMU volleyball for his fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach. He first joined the staff in 2010, but took the 2013 season off while completing his doctorate. Prior to joining the SMU staff, Sadler gained experience as a volleyball coach at various locations in the San Diego, Calif. area. From 2006-09 Sadler served as Rancho Bernardo junior varsity head coach and led the team to qualify for a playoff tournament during his tenure. Spanning from 2007 to 2009, he assisted Grossmont Community College. In 2009, he led the San Diego Volleyball Club 17-1, in his one season as coach, to finish 21st in the nation. Currently Sadler coaches Club 900 and led the team to finish 8th (of 84 teams) in the region. Sadler played club collegiate volleyball as a middle blocker/outside hitter for the men[apos]s team at Texas Tech from 1993-1998. After his time with the Red Raiders, he went on to play for Arizona State[apos]s University Club Volleyball and helped lead the team to a 3rd place finish in the NIRSA Nationals in Baltimore. Sadler also has extensive playing experience in outdoor volleyball. Since 1998, he has participated in the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) with a career-high finish of 29th. He also has been a member of the California Beach Volleyball Association, where he has garnered a AAA rating since 2006. Sadler earned his B.S. in Mathematics from Texas Tech and a M.S. in Applied Mathematics from San Diego State University. He earned a Ph.D. from SMU in Statistics in 2014.
