Courtney Washington

Courtney Washington is currently in her eighth year (2019-20) with the SMU sports medicine team, working with the volleyball, cheer, and pom teams.  She is certified in dry needling, as well as corrective exercise.

Courtney received her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from TCU in May 2008.  She then went on to become a graduate assistant at the University of Mississippi, working with their women's tennis, football, and track and field programs.  After obtaining her master's degree in 2010, she went on to work at Texas A&M University- Commerce.  For the next two years, she worked with the TAMU-C women's basketball and volleyball programs, as well as overseeing their graduate assistantships, post-operative rehabilitations, and doctor’s clinics.

Courtney has served the athletic training profession in several ways, most recently as the District Six Chair of the Young Professionals’ Committee for the National Athletic Trainers Association.  She is currently serving as a chair member for the inaugural National Athletic Trainer’s Association Foundational Development Committee.  She also serves as a Clinical Preceptor in conjunction with the UTA Accredited Sports Medicine Program.  She received the Ken Locker Service Award in 2017 for her work with the YPC.

Courtney currently resides in Red Oak, Texas with her husband Calvin Washington, and their two sons.
