Former volleyball standout Emma Clothier returns to the Hilltop as a graduate assistant for the 2026 season.
Clothier has played three seasons professionally since her graduate season as a Mustang in 2023, playing overseas with clubs in Puerto Rico, Germany, and Italy, before joining the Indy Ignite midway through the 2026 season, where she is currently under contract for the 2027 season.Â
Clothier was the first Mustang to be drafted to play professionally in the U.S., selected No. 25 overall by the Grand Rapids Rise in the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation Draft in December of 2023.Â
As a player at SMU, Clothier was named the 2023 AAC Player of the Year, the second player in program history to earn conference player of the year honors. She was later named an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention and First-Team All-Region. Clothier recorded 320 kills, hitting .384 while adding a team-high 116 blocks that season.Â
Before SMU, she played four seasons at Florida State, recording 802 kills, 98 service aces, and 364 total blocks, ranking in the top 15 in program history in all three categories. She was selected to the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2019 at Florida State, First-Team in 2020 and Second-Team in 2022.
