Kirsten Brown joined SMU as Assistant Athletic Director for Development in August of 2023.
She was part of the team that won PacNet Star of Year for 2025.
Brown arrived at SMU from West Virginia University, where she most recently served as the Senior Director of Development in the Mountaineer Athletic Club. In her role, she oversaw donor engagement efforts, annual giving programs, communications, special events and managed a portfolio of prospective donors. She was elevated to the role after previously serving as Director of Stewardship and Special Events. Brown carries with her three degrees from WVU, a B.S., an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Higher Education. She also serves on several professional committees including Women Leaders in College Sports and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
In her role, Brown oversees the Mustang Club’s annual giving efforts, manages athletic gift officers, assists with premium seating sales for the new Weber End Zone Complex, oversees the Mustang Club Board and will eventually carry a portfolio of major gift prospects.
